Further Staff
Our Nursing Team
We have a highly committed friendly nursing team comprising an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, two Heath Care Assistants and a Phlebotomist.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma, COPD and diabetes, and carry out cervical smears. They can help with health issues such as family planning and dressings. They run INR clinics and immunisation clinics, as well as giving advice about holiday immunisations.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner: Sister Lisa
Lisa has many years working in general practice. She has completed her training from the University of South Wales and is able to see, examine and prescribe for any patients with the same range of physical problems who would normally see a GP. These include chest problems, musculoskeletal problems and abdominal problems. She also continues to undertake some practice nurse roles.
Practice Nurse: Sister Helen
Helen has completed advanced training in a number of areas including COPD and Asthma, Diabetes and Contraception. She also gives childhood immunisations in Baby Clinic and provides travel advice and vaccinations, wound care, and runs the INR clinic. She has completed her minor illness training and is able to see patients with conditions such as sore throat and earache.
Sister Paula
Paula has recently joined the practice having been a District Nurse in the community for many years. She has great experience in wound management.
Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure and ECGs. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
We have 2 healthcare assistants Julie and Diane who have been highly valued members of the team for many years. They have completed training to extend their roles and Julie can administer vaccinations and injections. She also runs a Healthy Living Clinic providing lifestyle advice based on risk factors identified for conditions such as high blood pressure, pre-diabetes and obesity.
Phlebotomist
Katy joined our team in 2020 and undertakes blood tests requested by the GPs during the morning Monday to Friday.
Practice Pharmacists
We have two practice pharmacists who are able to undertake repeat medication reviews and answer medication queries. You can contact them by phoning the practice and leaving a message regarding your query and a contact phone number, and the pharmacist will get back to you usually within 3 working days.

These nurses are employed by the health board but work in close cooperation with the Practice. They provide nursing services to patients in their own home.

We work in close co-operation with our health visitors. They visit children under five years old at home and see them in the baby clinic. They are available for advice at Baby Clinic on a Thursday morning in the surgery.
